108 Tomb King Progress and Reinforcements
Many of you will have noticed that the Tomb Kings have been discontinued and as I mentioned in my previous post on the subject I managed to sneak a few models through under the budget control radar!
Settra has arrived! Now at first glance this seems to be a very good example as to just how bad finecast resin can be.... I am hoping that with time and some patience I will be proved wrong.
Following quickly behind him were three Ushabti with great weapons, I just love these models and the idea behind them. The whole Egyptian tie in really works for me and they take me straight into movies like the mummy returns when the undead army is marching across the world.
Again not great examples of finecast but they have cleaned up well. I am really looking forward to painting up these ones and am thinking I might try some sort of marble effect for their bodies...
On the painted front I have got the four character models to a point I am happy with, the lovely Queen of the Dead was a bit of a trial for me as the moulding was ropey at best and I am not entirely happy with how I ended up painting her but I think all four together make for quite a good group.

107 How to Age a Tomb King Mummy?
No you don't cut him in half and count his rings! But you do look at what he is made of. I ordered this guy as part of the Last Chance to buy discontinuing of the line and lo and behold he has been waiting around so long he is still an original metal mini! Pure. Class.....

106 Genestealer Hype!
Suffice to say that I am super excited about the news of Genestealer Cults making a return to 40k!

105 The Tomb King is Dead, Long Live the Tomb King?
It looks like Settra the Imperishable has finally perished and the whole of the Tomb Kings line is going with him. Sad times.
GW has put the entire Tomb Kings line on the "last chance to buy" list and wont be renewing it. I think the writing is on the wall for a lot of the "uncopyrightable" IP from WHFB and that Tomb Kings are just the first to bite it. We have already seen the Dwarfs changing drastically in form from where they were in WHFB and I think that is just going to continue with the other lines, either transformed or cut completely.
I must admit I splashed some cash to get Settra and a few other pieces when I first saw the news and popped back on a few days later to have a think about getting a few more to find that most of them were already sold out. Trust me to be getting into a line just as its being discontinued!
In other undead news I have been continuing on with my character models and am quite pleased with how my Tomb King himself is progressing. (I was panicking at one point because to be honest I thought I had cocked it up!)
I am going with the Gold/Bronze coupled with the dark green and cream/parchment colours and quite getting the feel of it now.

104 - All Ranked Up (and Down!)
Finally managed to finish off the centre group of the 30th!
Really pleased with how these turned out, just bases to sort and then another 30 odd models!!
Oh, did I mention I magnetised them? Oh boy! That works well.
