116 Progress on the Hit

I have been having a dilema of sorts around my Assassin models.... I just cant decide how I want to highlight the body suits!

I have done the prep; the bases are done, they themselves are under-coated... but still I am umming and ahing over how exactly I want to highlight the suits. bah!

My lithe Calidus Assassin is nimbly jumping down onto this bullet ridden block of concrete...

My Vindicare Assassin will be stealthily concealing himself behind this ruined pillar...

And my grim Culexus Assassin will be stalking forward of this twisted rubble...

But can I decide on the suits themselves?? No! gah

So whats a guy to do? Well to put it simply I cheated and for now am ignoring the suits and sorting all the silly little bits while I wait for inspiration!

115 Target Aquired

Any regular reader may have noticed that I am well and truly inside the "slow to paint" group or at the very list the "intermittent painter" group. So it may come as some surprise that I have got round to putting together my Assassins from the (no longer) new Assassinorum box within a year of its release!

I have always been a massive fan of the fluff of the imperial assassins and the original models were, at least for there time quite amazing. Original Assassins!

My photos nor my paint job (!) dont really do the originals justice but they were and to a degree still are great models and the new ones had a lot to live upto but I am quite pleased with them. I dont think they all have quite the same character as the originals but I think they are helped by the rose tint of gaming in my youth!

I have started with the Vindicare and Eversor (the Eversor being my least favourite) so watch this space for more!

114 Totally and utter Dominus

Really pleased with the finished Tech Priest Dominus, its a great model and I think I have managed to do it justice this time round!

113 John Blanche Concepts setting the scene

JB really set the scene for what would be the grittiness and pure outlandishness of the Necromundan world with these concept sketchs.

I'll be posting some more of his work as time goes on as he did some amazing work for both Confrontation and its love child Necromunda.

His art really gives you a feeling for the madness of the grimdark that many other artists fail to achieve with a more sterile style. John just layers the crazy characters on the page effortlessly and the depth of what he puts in is truly inspirational.

112 Just a step or two left

Final stages for my Tech priest. Really liking how he is looking now and got some good ideas for what to do with my second one!

The photos dont really do him justice which is something I need to remedy I think. A light box or at the very least a decent background are approaching I think.

A few last tweaks after the jump

111 Blanchitsu in Necromunda

Been trawling the interwebs today rather than my attic but I have still managed to find some real gems by that great artist and GW image guru John Blanche.

Let me take you back, back beyond Necromunda, back to Confrontation.....

Old school scavy chic; this is the essence of grimdark!

110 Tech (Priest) Update

Some good progress on my Tech Priest, worked up from my traditional scab red to a kind of deep burgundy rich with grime!

Leadbelcher is rapidly becoming my favourite for dry brushing metals, it makes for a really nice brushed metal look.

The burgundy went through some ups and downs as I worked on it with washes and neatened it up after.

Once I got some washes on and started to rough it up a bit it all felt a little better. You can see here me starting to get the trim on the armour plates; too bright and clean at this stage.

Mid stage on the arms and weapon systems, really liking how the different sections come together here.

Not sure how best to pick out some more of the details here with out taking away from the simplistic look but I will work on it.

Really enjoying this one, it was slow to start but its really coming together.
