There have been some rumours circulating recently about the imminent release of a Deathwatch Codex for 40k. Ordinarily this wouldn't be too news worthy but this is a codex with a difference, or rather the Deathwatch are going to be marines with a difference.
They are going to be few in number, very few and highly customisable. More of a small kill team than an army. No why do I find this interesting you say? Surely they will just end up as a novel addition, an ally to some other army? Well this is where I am hoping there will be something more to it....
What if these Space Marines are truly super human? What if finally the stats in game for a marine matches his fluff abilities? What if 10 marines are actually made to be the equivalent of 50 or 100 "normal" humans or xenos?
I think this could be epic. Imagine if we can get to something like we see in the fluff; smaller marine forces sizing up against a true horde of greenskins or Tyranids.
I am thinking they would need to have multiple wounds and improved armour stats (and points obviously) but I think this could work.
The only doubt I have in my mind would be that why would GW do it? Why would they make what is their most popular line into an army of just a few models that was competitive against a horde army ? Instead of selling a 100 marines they only sell 10? why would they?
But fingers crossed for the start of something good
